TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) is a set of light movements that activate a natural shaking or vibrating reflex in the body. This tremoring helps discharge deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma, bringing the nervous system back to a place of balance and calm.
Yes, TRE is safe for most people. However, because it works directly with your nervous system, it’s important to learn it with a certified provider, especially if you’ve experienced chronic stress, burnout, or Operational Stress Injury. Together, we create a safe space and go at your pace.
TRE is designed to be grounding and self-regulating. You are always in charge. If anything feels too intense, we pause or stop. The process is about gentle release, not reliving anything. You learn how to listen to your body’s cues and stop anytime.
No. TRE is body-based and doesn’t require storytelling. It allows the body to release stored tension without revisiting painful memories. However, somatic coaching is available if you’d like to reflect on what’s coming up emotionally or mentally.
It often feels like gentle, rhythmic vibrations starting in the legs or pelvis. Some people feel warmth, emotional release, or deep relaxation. Others feel calm and a little lighter. It’s not forced; it’s your body doing exactly what it’s designed to do. Some say it feels like an "internal massage".
Absolutely. TRE supports the nervous system in moving from a fight-flight-freeze state into a rest-repair mode. It’s especially helpful for those feeling “burnt around the edges,” chronically stressed, or stuck in a go-go-go cycle.
Most people notice a shift after the first session. For long-term benefits, 3–6 sessions with coaching support is ideal. The goal is to help you learn the technique so you can eventually use it on your own safely and effectively.
Yes. Once you learn TRE with a certified provider and feel confident in your ability to self-regulate, you can use it as a powerful tool for self-care at home. I’ll guide you on how to safely integrate it into your wellness routine.
TRE is a unique modality. It shares some similarities with body-based practices like yoga or somatic therapy, but it’s not a stretch or breathwork class. It activates your body’s natural tension-release mechanism, something animals do instinctively.
